LO1 Task 1: KTA 3/5: Five pieces of graphic design - full analysis

KTA 3

This poster is for glastonbury festival 2013. I think that this is not a good representation for the festival because the purpose of this is to attract people to the festival, but there is nothing appealing to this poster. It is a bad graphics design piece and doesn't represent the festival well. In this poster there is to much words and not any images to attract the audience. The target audience for this piece is young adults up to what ever age, But this poster looks like something completely different to a festival poster, there are no images of instruments or there is no sign of any theme to this festival. This would not appeal to teenagers and adults because it looks very cheap doesn't show off the quality of the festival. The only thing professional about this poster is the layout, for example the Gutters, Leading and Kerning.
I dont think this breaks any advertising codes.

I think this is a successful poster and it my favourite out of the the chosen 5. I think that the target audience for this festival are music lovers and possibly travellers. It makes me think that you will be camping out. The target audience for this is adults of any age. I think that this will do well on attracting the target audience because the image on this poster is a car with objects on top being tied down. I think that it looks like the people in this car are of on a summer holiday because of the suitcases and the BBQ on the roof, this will put the idea of summer, holidays and fun into the audiences head and make them want to go. On the roof of the car there is a acoustic guitar in a case. This shows that the purpose of this festival is to listen to more of relaxing music than electric guitar with rock. I think the style of this poster is putting an image in the audiences head of a BBQ the sun and live music. The sans serif font used in the title shows that it will still be big and successful. The leading and Kerning in this poster has been specifically set which makes the poster look a lot more successful & proffestional.

I think this poster looks a lot more professional and modern. i think that the target audience is a more older group over 20 and onwards. The grey background with the colourful circles and spirals is representing that it is professional but still creative and enjoyable. I also think that the circles represent the small amount of people that are really creative, In all that grey there are a small amount of red and blue and yellow which shows creativity in different people. The sans serif font of the title shows the importance of the title and makes it bold and easy to see. The colours used for the different fonts makes you see that everything is important to see, for example the word "music" is in blue when the other words of the title are in white, this poster is showing that the music part of the festival is new because in the pink words above the title it says that the "Glasgow Film Festival presents" this shows tells the audience that the music part has not been done before, which gives importance to this specific time.

I think that the target audience for this event is younger adults and possibly teenagers. The reason i think this is because of the image of the beach on the bottom of the poster. That makes me think about summer parties on the beach. The lists of artists performing at the event are set out professionally. Looking through all the posters I have noticed that the lists of artists is shaped with a change in the length in each line. The shape could possibly relate to sound waves of the music if it was turned sideways. The underlining of the titles on this poster relates to the stage that artist will perform on. the use of yellow and green give of a fresh theme to the poster and make people think of relaxing but also a good time. The colour white used on the titles gives of the feel of innocence the the audience it can also make it look very simple but also professional when over the green/yellow colours. I think that this advertising could be misleading if the festival was not actually set on a beach.
